The population of South Korea showed robust growth since the republic's establishment in
1948, and then dramatically slowed down with the effects of its economic
growth.
The country's population increased to
46 million by the end of the twentieth century, with growth rates ranging
between 0.9% and 1.2%. The population is expected to stabilize in
the year 2023 at around 52.6 million people.
